Yesterday I started talking about our “garden”. This year I wanted to grow more than just flowers in the yard. BUT we have deer. And raccoons. And birds. Lots of little creatures that love to nibble on everything.
However, I really missed those tomatoes we grew in Alabama. So I got two tomato plants and potted them on the deck. So far, so good.
The kids love watching them grow and getting a chance to pick them. All three tried the first ones that reddened and all three gagged. More for me.
I also planted some herbs. Rosemary, basil, oregano, and cilantro. I have not used them as much as I hoped, but still enough to justify having them.
And, of course, I grew mint. Key ingredient in the mojitos! Must have an abundant supply of mint for the popular summer cocktail.
My potted flowers? They did not survive the early July monsoon. I did my best getting them out of the numerous rainstorms, but they just drowned.
Luckily, the Black-eyed Susans are coming along great. Yes, that is the same spot in the yard that got flooded from all the rain in my earlier video.
Nice post!
Nothing like harvesting your own herbs and vegetables and cooking them at home is very rewarding.
Happy growing!
