Carol Ann’s Carousel in downtown Cincinnati is set to open on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Henry and I got to take a sneak peek inside today and it truly is magnificent. You need to be 42″ to ride alone and it will be open year-round since it is enclosed. It will cost $2 to climb aboard for the adventure.
There are so many unique characters on the carousel. They all have special ties to our great city. The Bengals, the Reds, Flying Pigs, and even the Bearcats. Although Henry said that the Baseball Horse is his favorite, he can’t wait to ride the Bearcat. I was shocked! Until I learned he wanted to wear all Xavier gear while on it.
i think Charlotte’s favorite will remain the Giraffe. There are two to choose from on this carousel. I’m sure Stella will love all of the horses. Some of the figures are stationary and some move up and down as they go round-and-round. Need a bench? You have your choice of a Steamboat or a Corvette.
The artwork of the figures themselves is amazing. But if you look around the carousel, there is even more artwork connected to Cincinnati. The carousel really is a treasure and a must-see.
And just where is this building located? You really can’t miss it once you are down by Smale Park. Here are some outside photos for reference. Henry and I parked underneath the Moerlein Lager House and strolled through the park, visited the playground, watched the fountains and then toured the carousel.
Have you visited Smale Riverfront Park recently?
