Preparing for my weekend girls-only trip to Florida, I decided to splurge and get a manicure and pedicure. Sadly, I still had $$ left from a gift card Andy got me for Christmas in 2009! (Being pregnant right afterwards and SICK didn’t make for many trips to the spa in 2010.)
I am a spa snob. For manicures, pedicures, and facials (not haircuts) I’d rather save up and go to Mitchell’s even if it means going less often because you definitely pay a premium there. I have tried other places but have never really been satisfied and must admit some of the strip mall nail places just scare me. I usually only go to the TriCounty location, but remembered that there was one in Hyde Park near work. So this week I was able to squeeze in both a pedi and a mani on different days.
During my pedicure I fascinated the woman giving it by whipping up a few headbands. Because, of course, I couldn’t just sit there and do nothing. Totally. Against. My. Nature. I can’t help it, the headband-making is actually a bit therapeutic to me – kind of meditative. So I threw together a couple of Florida Gator and XU ones while my toes were soaked, scrubbed and polished. The perfect hour for me.
And you, do you have a favorite salon/spa??
LOVE Woodhouse Day Spa in Montgomery. Makes Mitchell’s feel like WalMart to me, it’s that nice, relaxing and friendly. (Dont’t get me wrong, Mitchell’s is still a well-deserved treat that I wouldn’t turn down.)
Have a blast in FL and enjoy pretty fingers and toes!
