A Book Log for Summer Readers

School is almost over for Stella.  It’s hard to believe she finishes Kindergarten tomorrow.  We have lots of fun activities planned for the summer.  One thing I know she’ll keep doing is reading.  We are blessed that she loves to sit down and read to herself.
I wanted to find a way to keep reading fun this summer.  We are signed up for our library’s summer reading program which kicks-off next week.
And then I found this Brilliant Reader Book Log in the Target $1 bin.  No shocker that I was there, right?
It has enough pages to log about 25-30 books.  You can see below that the child can fill in the author, illustrator, favorite characters, favorite part of the book and also draw a scene from the book.
I don’t think we’ll do this for EVERY book…Stella is a bit of a speed reader.  However, it will be good for her to slow down and fill this in and really think about what she read every once in awhile.
I was just at Target yesterday (again, no shocker) and they still had them in our $1 bin locally.
Any summer readers out there?
Do your kids participate in a summer reading program?
