Handprint Calendars

Handprint Calendars

Awhile ago I wrote about our Chore Chart that I still love. I recently discovered that the Etsy shop that has the chore magnets also has a wonderful template for making your own Handprint Calendar on her separate Handprint Love website. There is a regular calendar template and an animal calendar template. I was sent the regular one for my kids to create calendars for holiday gifts. All you need are a few items – card stock white paper, a color printer, and kids’ paint safe for hands and feet. AND a kid with hands small enough to make the artwork. Charlotte (almost 9-years old) was still able to do a few of them. Henry (7-years old) had no problem with his hands fitting in the designated spots. To purchase the template, go to Google and search for “handprint love capturing a world of wonder” to find her Handprint Love website.

We spent about an hour this morning working on our handprints. The nice thing about this set is that it comes with visual ideas for each month. And very detailed directions on how to print the calendar properly and prepare it for hanging whether you bind it somewhere or just use a hole-punch and string. The kids had a lot of fun creating their months. The even better thing about the calendar is you don’t have to really do paint handprints on every month. You absolutely can! However, my kids want me to trace their hands for the November turkey instead so that they can color and decorate a scene for that month. So if you are thinking…”there’s no way I’m working through that for a 12-month calendar”…you don’t have to! No matter what artwork your kids create on the pages, it’s a beautiful template and simple to print.

We are letting our paint creations we completed today dry this afternoon. Some of them need extra work once dry – Charlotte’s July flag needs outlined to see the white stripes and she will add white stars, etc.The kids plan to finish the rest of the artwork during this upcoming week and then I’ll take the calendars and have someone bind them for me just in time for the holidays.

I was given the calendar template to try out and review. Thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks for visiting!}

Snowman Snowball Shooter Craft

Snowman Snowball Shooter Craft

The Snowman Snowball Shooter is always a popular item at the school holiday parties. I made them a few years ago with Stella’s class and I’m going to make them again this week with Charlotte’s. The supplies are easy to find, the prep work is not too bad, and the kids love every minute of

How to Create a Fairy Garden

How to Create a Fairy Garden

A couple of weeks ago I posted about painting fairy houses and clay pots. The kids really did enjoy that craft and then planting their own flowers for the Fairy Garden. But I also needed a few other supplies for our garden to come together completely. Let me say my motto was “go big or

Painting Fairy Houses and Clay Pots

Painting Fairy Houses and Clay Pots

I must admit that I fell in love with the idea of having a Fairy Garden this summer. Have I told you lately how much I LOVE the outdoors and gardening, etc.? So when I saw Valerie’s post on Pinterest about her own backyard Fairy Garden, I pinned it immediately and started planning. There is

Easel Art Gifts

Easel Art Gifts

It’s almost the end of the school year. Which can mean “end-of-the-year” gifts for teachers, bus drivers, classroom helpers, etc. So when I saw these 2-packs of miniature easels on clearance at Michael’s craft store, I bought a stack of them. (I noticed other sizes and options in the canvas area on an end-cap not

How To Make a Leprechaun Trap

How To Make a Leprechaun Trap

My kids have been talking about Leprechaun Traps for the past week. I’m not sure where they even got the idea, but they have been thinking intently about how to build them, where to put them, what they’ll do with the Leprechaun, etc. So when the weather looked a bit YUCK today (again), I thought

St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Thumbprint Craft

St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Thumbprint Craft

I was searching back through old photos and came across these snapshots from St. Patrick’s Day in 2010. Too cute. Yes, I’m biased. You can see that we don’t mind wearing green and celebrating the holiday. I also still decorate my hutch for different seasons. Today I put away Valentine’s Day and started getting out

Snow Day Indoor Activities

Snow Day Indoor Activities

This winter has been brutal for us as far as snow and ice is concerned. The schools are all closed again today and I’ve lost count as to just how many snow days this is…eight? Nine? The hard part is that it has either been too cold to go out in it (truly negative temperatures)

Harvest Party Pumpkin Patch Fingerprint Craft

Harvest Party Pumpkin Patch Fingerprint Craft

Stella’s Harvest Party is this afternoon at school.  And I, no surprise here, am the coordinator.  I actually did NOT sign up for this, but when no one else did either…I stepped in and took over.  Luckily, there were other volunteers for the elements of the party (treats, paper plates, party helpers, etc.) just no

Cardboard Box Rocket Ships

Cardboard Box Rocket Ships

I must admit I think we saw this idea on PBS kids after an episode of Curious George or Martha Speaks or something.  Kids were making rocket ships out of paper boxes with a bunch of fun craft supplies.  So my kids were all like, “MOM!  THAT LOOKS LIKE SO MUCH FUN!!!!”  And it was

Tissue Paper Crafts for Kids

Tissue Paper Crafts for Kids

Are you looking for a simple, quick, hardly-any-supplies-needed, indoor craft for your kids? Do you have a lot of tissue paper left over from receiving gifts?  No?!?  Are you one of those that recycles it or throws it away?  Not me.  I’m that annoying person that KEEPS every bit of tissue paper to reuse or
