Leprechaun Traps

St. Patrick’s Day is Tuesday! Last year was the first year the kids set Leprechaun Traps the night before to see what would happen. You can read that How to Make A Leprechaun Trap post for step-by-step instructions. But it’s really not that complicated. You just need some boxes, paper, and markers.

This was a great craft for us on one of our snow days. Other moms think I am crazy for introducing this. No, I am selfish. It took me minutes to put together the “blank slates” = covering the boxes with paper. Then the best thing ever happened. They were busy for at least an hour. Without my help!

The traps turned out fantastic. They put a lot of hard work into them this year. Everyone created notes and rainbows and ladders. It’s amazing how a pack of $1.00 pipe cleaners can be used.

Oh Henry! He asked me to a write a note down for the Leprechaun that he could copy onto his trap. He apparently gave up and/or ran out of room and just taped my words on his trap.

We’ll have to wait until Tuesday morning to see if we catch a Leprechaun! Last year we failed. However, a Leprechaun did come…and left some gifts behind on his journey. And a letter! The kids are already hoping for another box of Lucky Charms.

Do you do anything special for St. Patrick’s Day?
