How Much Water Do You Drink?

I am normally pretty healthy and tend to be able to eat more sweets than I should without adding on too many extra pounds. One thing I attribute this to is all of the water I drink each day. Well, it should probably say “while at work”, because I always have more trouble remembering to drink as much when I’m home.

I prefer drinking out of a straw…not sure why, but I tend to drink more that way. So I always have a straw cup with me…in the car, at home, on my desk. But the water machine at work has begun tasting yucky to me and I was tired of carrying multiple cups, so I finally went out and got a 64-oz. Rubbermaid water bottle the other day to refill my desk cup. Now I have a complete visual of how much water I need to intake.

I know a few people who hate water. Such a bummer. By the evening I’m pretty tired of it, but I don’t seem to mind it throughout the day. Even plain. Every now and then I’ll make an individual bottle of Crystal Lite lemonade, but usually I just drink it plain. And I can’t stand it super cold. I actually prefer room temperature.

What about you? Do you get your daily water intake? And how do you prefer it?

  1. I, too, need a straw to get it all in! But, I love water SUPER COLD!

A lot of people have been saying our ice/water machine has been yucky lately, too.

On the weekends, I’m crap for my water. I will actually by one of those liter water bottles from the gas station just so I know I got half my water in.

  2. I’ve always been a big water drinker. In the last couple of months I’ve been experiencing heartburn and indigestion. Last week I went to a naturopathic doctor. After lots of questions, one of the things she recommended was to stop drinking water with my meals (i drink one or two glasses). She said I was washing down my digestive enzymes and they weren’t able to do their part in digesting my food. Have y’all heard of this?

  3. It’s got to be super cold for me – the more ice, the better! I have had to force myself to drink plenty of water this pregnancy, especially at the beginning so I’ve been making a large pitcher and cutting up fresh lemons to add to it just to give it a bit of flavor so it doesn’t make me gag!

Love the idea of getting the 64oz so you have a visual of how much you need a day! I will start doing that! 🙂

  4. I was just talking to a friend about this today…I was really good all school year about drinking water but haven’t really had even a glass since school’s been out….oops!!! And warm water….yuck!!

  5. I drink a gallon of water every day. Like you, I use a straw and also like you, I don’t like cold water. At work using the water cooler, I put 12 seconds of hot water (I count to 12 in my head while running the water) in my giant 32oz mug and then fill it the rest of the way with cold. It’s the perfect temperature.
